For grinding large rollers, we use modernised screw-turning machines. After major overhaul and modernisation, the machines were fitted with independent drives for spindle rotation, longitudinal and transverse feeds, and grinding heads. The machines are controlled by a computer and can be used to set a wide variety of longitudinal cross-sectional profiles. The profile is defined by a sequence of straight and curved sections, with a smooth or stepped transition, and by making annular protrusions or grooves on the roller surface. It is possible to set the profile by points. It is possible to create helical grooves/projections on the shaft surface with a constant or variable pitch.
Maximum roller sizes for grinding and slicing:
- Length: up to 6.8 m
- Diameter: up to 800 mm
- Weight: up to 10 tonnes
Positioning accuracy when machining diameters +-0.02 mm
Positioning accuracy in length +-0.1 mm
