Rolling rubberisation is not just about applying a layer of rubber. It is a complex engineering task, the successful solution of which affects the stability of the production process, equipment life and product quality.
Dessa-NV has been specialising in the processing of shafts with various types of elastomeric coatings for over 25 years. We work with shafts up to 7 metres long, up to 900 mm in diameter and weighing up to 10 tonnes.
🔍 How professional rubberisation works
- Preparation of the base:
The rod is cleaned, ground and degreased. If necessary, the rod is turned or a new rod is manufactured. - Application of the adhesive system:
To ensure a tight bond between rubber and metal, we use multi-component adhesives that can withstand high temperatures and loads. - Vulcanisation:
The coating is applied and cured in an autoclave or continuously, depending on the type of rubber. - Grinding and balancing:
Shaft machining to an accuracy of 0.01 mm, profile shaping (straight, bombardment, cone, saddle, etc.), runout control and dynamic balancing.
📐 How to choose a coating material
The right rubber is a combination of technical feasibility, chemical resistance and optimum service life. We work with more than 150 types of materials, including:
- NBR is oil-resistant, ideal for metallurgy and printing.
- EPDM - withstands aggressive environments.
- SBR - high abrasion resistance, used in transport systems.
- XNBR, HNBR, NE - special mixtures for high loads.
- Silicones - temperature resistance up to +250 °C.
- Polyurethanes - hardness up to 95 Shore A, for extreme loads.
🏭 What industries we work with
We rubberise shafts for companies in the following industries:
- printing (offset, flexo, varnishing systems);
- woodworking (transport, clamping, grinding shafts);
- paper and cardboard production;
- metallurgy and metalworking;
- food packaging and film production.
